Faithful Friday!

I love this verse.
It felt fitting for this week especially in celebrating what our Savior did for us, the ultimate sacrifice he made for all mankind!  There is, in my opinion, no more beautiful or moving way to think of what He did for us than to realize that He really did die to know us.... without the love He showed, we would not have the privilege of knowing God and all his graces, mercies, and love.
I am so thankful!
Hope you have a blessed weekend :)

Sweet Cottontails

Day before yesterday I received these sweet little crocheted cottontail bunnies from someone it has been a blessing to know, even if only through blogging... Tammy from Simple Southern Pleasures.  I enjoy reading her blog about family, life, and Southern life so much!!

I just want to say thank-you so very much for the beautiful little package you sent!!  It was such a joy to receive.  I love the bunnies!
I would have posted this earlier, but I am just getting a chance to take a photo of them in good light...
Aren't they lovely?  And such a beautiful, soft color.
These bunnies are now with our Springy d├ęcor, to be admired, but will make such sweet keepsakes even when Spring has passed.

Thankyou so much Tammy!
Blessings to you♥

And I wish you a blessed and wonderful day if you're reading this!

Spring Daybook

My Daybook thoughts for today...
Outside my window...
It is the best kind of Spring day:  trees blowing in a strong, cool breeze and everything warmed by the shining sun.  With our back door open and just the screen door pulled close, the sounds of the afternoon are so pleasant.
I am thinking...
about baking!  I just got the chance to watch the new Pioneer Woman that was recorded and now I have lemon and blueberry cupcakes on my mind♥
I am thankful...
for the coziness of home: just being together at home having a relaxing day, feeling so comfy under a blanket as I type, with the cool air blowing through the screen door and my dog sleeping beside me.  I am so grateful to the Lord for that.
I am wearing...
a light sweater and just cozy Sunday clothes :)  Aside from going to church, I love to be comfortable on Sundays when we are around the house.
I am reading...
Numbers right now, and trying to catch up on my reading!
I am creating...
some watercolors for fun :)
I am wondering...
how March is already almost over!?  Is it just me, or does it feel like it just started?
I am looking forward to...
our plans of going to the river sometime next weekend.
I am praying...
for guidance and the attitude to always listen to it.
One of my favorite things...
how clean and bright and fresh your home feels just because it's Spring.
A favorite quote for today...
"The nicest place to be is in someone's thoughts.
The safest place to be is in someone's prayers.
And the best place to be is in God's hands."
A peek into my day...
Our rose bush that just started blooming out back.
Have a wonderful day and a great start to the new week!
Blessings to you!

Faithful Friday!

This reminds me that nothing in this world is for sure.  Everything changes... life, circumstances, people, ourselves, our hearts and minds... even weather is something we can never be sure of.

But God never changes.  He is always there, always has been, always will be.  Have faith that even if everything in your life fell apart, God will always be there to put it back together and to be your strength through the storms.

Happy Friday!

Blessings to you♥

Ringing in Spring!

Hooray for the first day of the Spring season!

I sure love Spring... it seems like every new season that comes is exciting, maybe because we are ready for change every few months... but Spring is truly a beautiful season with everything blooming and bright and beautiful all around you!  I once heard that the arrival of Spring is nature's way of saying "Let's party!", and I think that's true with the way everything just feels brighter and more alive.  It just makes you joyful!

Aside from hornets and junebugs, I am so glad Spring has arrived!  It has been in the 80's most days in this part of the South, so it definitely felt like time for it to make an entrance :)

To ring in the new season, I took some time to do a little craft project for a door decoration I thought I would share...

Our Spring wreath!
It was so simple and fun to make.  I had seen this little nest-like wreath at Hobby Lobby a couple of weeks ago.
It is the prettiest robin's egg blue color!  So I picked it up recently, then just went from there and decided to decorate it with a fun, bright, sort of natural theme.  I bought a couple sets of faux daisies and (my favorite thing...) a card of lovely butterflies, and decorated it!

I decided to do things a little off balance and just placed the daisies and butterflies at angles.  I really like how it turned out, especially the way it pops against our black door.

A neat thing about this that I thought about is that since everything is just hot glued on, I can pull off the things I have on there now and change it up for next Spring!  ...change the theme or have fun playing with different colors.
And the wreaths didn't just come in blue; there were all bright and lovely colors like pink, lavender, green, and yellow.  I may have to go get some more :)

.           .          .

Isn't the first day of a new season always exciting!?...  the chance to get to see the new and amazing colors of another one of God's seasons, and to even have a renewed and joyful feeling!
Some things I am looking forward to... seeing more of the wildflowers as they bloom, planting flowers, watching the birds and butterflies, sewing Spring clothes, days by the river, and Spring showers (we had one last night, right on time)!

What are you looking forward to about Spring?

I hope you are having a blessed day!

Week in Photos: Spring Break

What a beautiful day it is today!
And what a blessed week this has been.  I am so thankful for all the time I have gotten to spend with my family and the time I spent getting to read, do devotions, work on crafts, and simply enjoying each day of this Spring Break week!
I often enjoy taking pictures for fun randomly, and looking back, I noticed I took a pretty good number of them this week during different parts of the week.  I thought I would share them as my week in photographs :)
All last weekend and during the beginning of this week, my Grandma came to stay with us for a few days.  I love spending time with grandparents and she always has such fun stories from her days growing up in the South.  On her last full day in town, we took her to a restaurant on the river and got a little dressed up.  I borrowed this necklace from my Momma and thought it was so pretty ♥
The only unfortunate part of the break has been that our oven has been broken.  I have missed baking so much, but since we can't bake anything we picked up a cake at the grocery store.  And we figured, why not go big?  We got a cake sort of different from any we have had before- it was six layers tall.  And delicious.
For a period during the week, I was pet-sitting for a neighbor.  I really enjoy the opportunity to do this, just being around sweet little dogs.  On one of the mornings, I woke up early to go take care of them and then took them out for a walk... it was a different experience because I'm used to walking one dog, but it was fun.
Later that day, I had the privilege of going out to eat a wonderful lunch with my parents.  We did a little shopping beforehand as well.  Before we left, though, I had some time after I got dressed so I painted my nails this Springy, bright pink :)

Spending some time gardening.  I love walking around to the back gate of our house... the grass is greener and I love the way the sun shines on it, and there are azalea bushes growing there.  Plus, the water hose is there, which reminds me of summers outside gardening, and just cooling off.
Relaxing with my new favorite candle that night.  It's called 'Bermuda Beach' and it was a gift from my Daddy this winter... he gave it to me then, but I saved it for Spring and oh my goodness does it smell wonderful!  The scent is sort of a mix between tropical flowers and grapefruit.

Later in the week, I pulled out this yarn to work with it a little bit and start something.  I haven't been doing it long, but crocheting has been so relaxing and fun.  Last night  I really enjoyed crocheting while I listened to an audiobible :)
I think the colors in this yarn are so beautiful!... it goes from a fuchsia hue, to red, to fiery orange, to a melon.
I hope you have had a wonderful week!!
Blessings to you!

Faithful Friday!

source: Pinterest

I find this photograph and these words beautiful...
This reminds me that there is no way to have strong faith without relying on God to take care of you, without giving yourself to Him and letting Him take you through situations in life.

Looking at this bridge, I think of it as being a lot like day to day life.  We can't see to the other side because of the fog, but we have to cross anyway- to believe that we will get to the other side with God's help- and have faith that it will take us to safety and get us through any struggle.  Afterall, if we don't have faith and cross that bridge, we can never get to the blessings ahead!

Happy Friday!

Blessings to you ♥

Happy Thursday!

I hope your day has been wonderful!  It has not been a bad day here- amazing Springy weather, doing some crafts, and going for a walk :)

I have also been on Pinterest some today... I am enjoying it so much!!  Everyone who tells you you'll get addicted if you join is more than right!  I have recently joined and am loving it so much... more than anything, for the inspiration it provides in so many areas.

Here are just a few pins in a few categories I have found so much inspiration in... in ways that have strengthened my passions, interests, and my heart for the Lord.

In a matter of days, I have found and happened upon more amazing photography and ideas for photography than ever before.

Beautiful Femininity & Modesty
I cannot express just how encouraged I have been in my convictions in modesty and dressing in a pretty, presentable way- by both modern and vintage inspirations.

He Knows Better: Photography
Grace at His Daughter
Everywhere I look, there seems to be an up-building and beautiful sentiment of faith... something that makes me consider God's grace differently than I have before, or something that simply makes my heart happy or appreciative.

And just some neat things... this is one that struck me as truly unique and beautiful...
What are you being inspired by??  Do you love Pinterest?

You Know it's Almost Spring When...

1.  The temperature is in the 80's and everyday seems warmer and warmer.

2.  You see people jumping in the river for a swim to cool off.

3.  Tiny flowers are popping up all over your yard.

4.  At 9 am you can't leave the house without a jacket, and by 11 am you can't leave with one on.

5.  You are watching QVC and every segment is talking about Spring clothing or everything "screaming Easter".  (I leave it on sometimes while I'm home doing things like housework and the Spring shows showcasing all the beautiful pastels and bright colors are getting more frequent!)

6.  The newest magazines have changed from sharing recipes for things like ginger-snaps and red velvet cake to punches and peach cobblers.

7.  The last two batches of grapes from the grocery store have started to taste so juicy and delicious!

8.  You've seen neighbors and people around town out gardening on the weekends.

~These are just a few random things I have noticed that are making me notice how Spring really is upon us!  Down here it feels just like Spring... I have family and friends in different parts of the country who are still getting snow and wearing coats outside and although a part of me would love that, I am just going to submit to Spring.  I am excited for it to officially be here on the 21st, although it feels like it pretty much is now :)
And although I didn't list it, one way you can be sure it's almost Spring is when you feel it is... it's like there is a clock in all of us where we just feel like Spring, yearn for Spring.  I always know the season is changing when I suddenly switch from enjoying looking at photos of snow scenes to peonies and meadows.

What signs of Spring are you noticing??

Faithful Friday!

I was thirteen years old when I first saw this... it was a chilly winter day and I was sitting in a funeral home at my Grandma's funeral.  There were cards that were handed out to everyone who came to pay their respects... they had my Grandma's photo and a little about her life, her faith, and us, her family.  I was reading through it with the heaviest kind of heart, and then I flipped it over and this was on the back.

After I read it, as you can imagine I kind of lost it right there... I looked at it for awhile and I felt so much.  I felt comforted and I felt the love of my Grandma and the love of the Lord, and ever since that day that moment has stuck with me as has the story... that card is now tucked away, both in my heart and in my room at home, but I joined Pinterest this week and was so delighted to find it there!

If you are dealing with death or anything in life that brings you down, remember that you aren't alone.
God never leaves you no matter how alone you may feel... if you have no one else, you still have His love.  He will always be beside you and when you think he has left, He hasn't.  He is carrying you.

Happy Friday!!
Blessings from my heart to yours :)

Sometimes something is put on your heart or mind that you suddenly begin to think about more than you ever have... or consider or appreciate more than you ever have.

Lately for me, that thing is femininity.

It has always been something I have appreciated, but more now as I get older.  And I don't mean feminism at all- I'm not a feminist.
I just love the gift of femininity and am so thankful for God's arrangement and the fact that ladies are meant to be feminine and lovely and men are meant to be strong and gentlemanly.  That reminds me of this that I found this week...
I believe this is true.
It is such a privilege to be a girl, because you have the choice to be a lady...  to maybe make boys and men more inclined to be gentlemen.  The world needs more ladies... more Audrey Hepburns... and more gentlemen... more Jimmy Stewarts.
Being feminine and embracing every opportunity to show that is a big thing where I was brought up, maybe because it comes from one thing that is an even bigger deal: manners.
Like manners and kindness, it is something engrained in you growing up with stories and examples from your Momma and your Grandma as it was for me.

I can still remember going to see my Grandma during the holidays as a little girl.  We would look through family albums together and her example of femininity and lady-likeness was so obvious from all those old photos of her as a little girl, to her teens, to her wedding, and later on.

Femininity is a gift.  I have grown up as my Daddy's only daughter, only child for that matter, so I enjoy sports, too.  I like to play baseball and tennis and watch baseball in the summer, and I know other girls who do the same kinds of sporty things or they hunt for fun... but you can definitely still be polished and feminine at the same time.
If there is one thing I have learned from the women I have been surrounded by, femininity and being a lady is of high value more on the inside...
I love all the parts of being feminine on the outside- wearing pearls, curling your hair, having nice nails, wearing pretty and vintage dresses to church and weddings, and getting dressed up sometimes, but so much more important than that is having grace, a beautiful heart, modesty, a sincere and kind smile, and a giving spirit.

And there are also those wonderful aspects of femininity that come naturally to many... like the excited feeling of finding a new cake recipe!  Or buying (or sewing) a new dress.  Or presenting your family with a fresh pie.

One of the things I am grateful for as far as the gift of femininity is what that means when it comes to how we were created...
With the intended desire to have all those attributes like grace, and to always be hospitable and kind, welcoming, caring, and loving!

...For fun, I found a few (or more ;)) words and things (courtesy Pinterest) that I appreciated and thought had a lot to do with lady-like femininity in what they say or portray, and thought I would add them to this post...

Have a blessed Sunday!

Faithful Fridays!

Happy March!

I hope you are having a blessed Friday!
This week seemed like the fastest week of the year so far.  Did your week go by fast?  Did anything wonderful or special happen??
My week was pretty lovely... I am just thankful for every week that passes with health and joys and where God gets me through... and am so happy that another weekend is upon us!

I remembered only about a week ago that this week (tomorrow in fact!) marks the year "anniversary" of my blog's beginning, the day I published my first post!!  It is amazing how time flies... It feels like yesterday I was talking with one of my best friend's about how I was thinking of starting a Southern life blog, and here it is a year later.
I have enjoyed blogging, sharing bits of my life, joys, blessings, and life in the South, more than any other project I have ever started.  Because that's what this is to me- a beautiful sort of never ending project.  And even more than writing my own blog, I have enjoyed and been constantly enlightened and encouraged by the blogs of others!  And every amazing comment left and friendship I have made in this past year has been more of a blessing to me than I know how to say.
I am so excited for another year!  Excited for new things...

Speaking of new things- although it is a simple addition- I have decided to do something new on my blog!

I am constantly inspired by faith... encouraged and amazed by the power that presence of faith makes in one's life...
Because of this, I get so excited about the quotes, verses, and expressions of faith that I come across and always want to share them....
So I decided to share those I do find in a regular post... on anything that my heart is moved by having to do with faith and what results from it; courage, inner beauty, love, strength, God, encouragement, miracles.  Every Friday, I hope to post a simple photo that somehow expresses faith!
I hope that reading and seeing them gives you a even a little bit of hope, joy, strength or encouragement!
I figured Friday would be a wonderful day to do this, therefore the title Faithful Fridays :)

For this Faithful Friday...
